Sage 100 Doesn't Love Windows Automatic Updates

Posted by B/P News & Notes on May 24, 2016 at 11:29 AM

By now, many Sage ERP users know that Sage 100 is only compatible with Windows 10 on versions 2016 and 2015, Product Update 4. Unfortunately, some of those users have learned the hard way about the incompatibility issues presented by running earlier versions of Sage 100, or MAS90, with Microsoft's latest operating system. To complicate matters, Microsoft has now released a program through Windows Automatic Updates that magically installs Windows 10 on workstations. The GWX.exe (i.e. "Get Windows 10") program is that unwelcome magician for users of earlier Sage ERP versions.

If Bennett/Porter manages your I.T. services, then never fear. We have taken necessary steps to prevent the program from running on your system until you're ready to upgrade your ERP software. If you're not a Bennett/Porter I.T. customer, we recommend that you speak with your I.T. services provider about how to prevent Windows 10 from automatically installing - or about how to roll back the update if it's already installed.

Should you need any assistance from our I.T. Services team, or if you have questions about the automatic Windows 10 update, please email or give us a call at 503.225.9633. If you're interested in upgrading your Sage 100 software or require help applying Product Updates to make your system compatible with the newest version of Windows, please contact Carina at 503.620.3484.
