Sage 100 Year End Updates for 2018

Sage 100 Year End Updates for 2018On December 19th, Sage will release a year-end Interim Release Download (IRD) with program changes for Accounts Payable and Payroll, as well as a 2019 Tax Table Update. Please note that the IRD and Payroll Tax Table Update are available for only specific versions of Sage 100 and Sage 100cloud; so please keep reading to find out which versions those are!

Interim Release Download

The IRD should be installed prior to processing 1099 and W-2 forms for 2018. This update will address the following tax form changes:

  • On the 1099-DIV Form, a new field has been added that has shifted all of the other fields (no changes have been made to the 1099-MISC or 1099-INT forms).
  • There is an update for Box 12 on the W-2 form.

Only clients with a current Sage Subscription or Business Care Plan who are on one of the following Sage 100 versions will be eligible to receive the IRD:

  • 2018 PU2 or higher
  • 2017 PU1 or higher
  • 2016 PU5

Additionally, Payroll 2.0 clients (those on Sage 100 version 2018) will need to have Payroll version 2.18.5 (to be released mid-November) or higher installed before beginning year-end processing.

2019 Payroll Tax Table Update

The 2019 Payroll Tax Table Update will be available for Sage 100 - versions 2017 and 2016 only - to clients with a current Sage 100 Business Care Plan or a Sage 100cloud subscription. The Tax Table Update should be installed prior to running your first payroll of 2019. If you are using an earlier version of the software or do not have a current Sage plan, you can manually update the tax tables or have Bennett/Porter manually update them for you.

Clients on Sage 100 version 2018 (Payroll 2.0) will not need to have a tax table update installed. The payroll taxes can be updated by running the Payroll Tax Update utility on the Payroll Utilities menu.

Clients who need to get back on a current Sage plan and/or upgrade to a supported version of Sage 100 in order to be eligible to receive year-end updates can contact us for assistance. For clients who would like to have their W-2 and/or 1099 forms e-filed with the IRS, e-filed with the state of Oregon, printed and mailed to employees or vendors - or all of the above, Bennett/Porter offers a W-2 and 1099 Processing Service.

This service works well for clients who aren’t on a supported version of Sage 100, who don’t have a current Sage 100 Business Care Plan or Sage 100cloud subscription, or who simply dislike the process of tax reporting. We bill you for the cost of filing the forms through Aatrix (and mailing, if applicable) plus our time to process the forms, billed at the rate of $150/hour. Aatrix eFiling Web Class

For clients who are new to federal and state eFiling and reporting through Sage 100 (a.k.a. Aatrix) or who need a refresher on the eFiling process, we are offering our Aatrix eFiling web class in December and January.

Aatrix is Sage’s answer to the required form filing - whether or not you actually use the software to electronically file your 1099s, State Quarterlies, 941s, or W-2s - or just use the forms to print and still manually send the forms in. Aatrix has been included with Sage 100 since the release of version 4.3 for both W-2 and 1099 processing. It is much easier to use than conventional filing methods - and in some cases, you do not have to use the electronic process to file your forms.
