Washington State Family Leave Act Reporting Deadline ChangeDo you have employees in Washington state? Have you been collecting premiums for the Paid Family and Medical Leave since January 1, 2019?

In October 2018, we published a blog post entitled 'Washington Based Employers: Family Leave Act Premiums Begin January 1, 2019'. The post provided details on the program that became effective on January 1, 2019 as well as the new requirements for employers with employees in Washington state. Here's an update with an important change to the first quarter reporting deadline.

The Q1 reporting deadline has been changed to July 31, 2019. The Washington Employment Security Department announced just yesterday that, beginning July 1st, employers will submit both Q1 and Q2 reports and premium payments through the online customer management system.

Detailed instructions for reporting will be available soon. There will be no fines or penalties for reporting and remitting Q1 in July. For more information, visit the employer page on The Washington Employment Security Department’s website.
