employee benefit acronyms and what they mean for your organizationEmployee benefits has to be one of the industries with the highest number of acronyms. Things like ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, STD, LTD, HSA, HRA, FSA, EOB, and so many more are common in conversations. Most HR professionals need a cheat sheet just to talk the language. Imagine trying to help employees understand each of the terms, not to mention understanding and administering the compliance and regulations that go with each of these.

Then there are the details and the rules. If I asked you the minimum size a company must be in order to be required to follow ACA regulations, would you be able to tell me? How about how many employees you have to have to be COBRA eligible? Or maybe, are you HIPAA compliant? Staying compliant with regulations that pertain to your size organization is critical.
